Recycling in Our Community
The Kodiak Island Borough actively promotes recycling in our community therefore we encourage citizens to utilize the services of the local recycling company, Threshold Services Inc.
Accepted Materials
Threshold Recycling services gladly accepts the following materials:
Paper (Un-waxed)- Catalogs
- Cereal boxes
- Colored
- Corrugated cardboard - Please flatten boxes.
- File folders
- Junk Mail - Please remove non-paper items.
- Magazines
- Newspapers
- Phone books
- Shredded (Bagged)
- Snack boxes
- White
- Window Envelopes
| #1 & #2 Plastic- Laundry bottles (soap, bleach, and softener) - Please remove and discard the lids.
- Milk jugs - Please remove and discard the lids.
- Water/soda bottles - Please remove and discard lids.
Aluminum- Foil
- Tin Cans (No Spray Cans) - Please rinse; labels are ok.
Other Electronics Fluorescent tube bulbs

Please do not bring the following materials:
- Antifreeze containers
- Food products
- Candy wrappers, coffee bags, chip bags
- Carbon paper
- Disposable diapers
- Mixed Items (Spiral notebooks, plastic or metal bound folders)
- Oil
- Products contaminated by oil or antifreeze

- Styrofoam
- Waxed paper products
- Bubble wrap
- Clear Plastic wrap
- Grocery bags
- Plastic trays

Please clean and/or rinse containers to be recycled.
