Agencies and Training Facilities

Agencies

The Bayside Fire Station also provides support and logistics to other emergency response agencies in Kodiak.

KARES

One of these agencies is the Kodiak Amateur Radio Emergency Services (KARES) group. Members of KARES operate and staff the fire station's Mobile Emergency Communications Unit and Command Post.

KISAR

Bayside Fire Station also provides training space and equipment storage space for Kodiak Island Search and Rescue (KISAR).

Training

The Bayside Fire Station conducts regular training for its volunteer firefighters.

Live Fire

The Bayside Fire Training Center is a live fire training facility that was purchased by the Bayside Volunteer Firefighters Association. This facility is used to provide training to Bayside, Kodiak City, Womens Bay, and Coast Guard fire departments, as well as firefighters from the Kodiak villages and other emergency response agencies in the region.

Training Center

The Bayside Community Training Center (CTC) is also a part of the Bayside Fire Station. The CTC provides training to local emergency response agencies and the public.

  • Firefighting
  • First Aid
  • Emergency Medical Technician
  • Emergency Trauma Technician
  • Fire extinguisher training
  • Fire prevention classes
  • National Incident Management System
  • Other classes

Logistic Support

The CTC also provides logistic support to CPR instructors at:

  • Kodiak Area Native Association
  • Kodiak Fire Department
  • Providence Kodiak Island Medical Center
  • U.S. Coast Guard Clinic
  • U.S. Coast Guard Fire Department
  • Women’s Bay Fire Department
