KODIAK BEAUTIFICATION AWARD PROGRAM

Kodiak Beautification Awards program is an annual program to reward residential and commercial property owners that enhance the image of the Kodiak community. This program will recognize those outstanding properties who create a visible, attractive living environment for everyone. Anyone who lives in the City or the Borough who has finished a project enhancing their property within the last year is eligible. For a property to be considered in the program, it must be nominated. The nomination must come from a Kodiak resident who is not the owner or occupant of the property being nominated.

How are the properties evaluated? The premise of the program is to reward those who take pride in their residential and/or commerical property. This does not necessarily mean the "nicest" or "newest" property but those that are being improved on or maintained exceptionally well. The properties are evaluated from the front of the property only. The main criteria for evaluation includes: (1) The architectural quality of the property and overall curb appeal; (2) The condition and quality of the yard maintenance; and (3) The condition and quality of the exterior of the property.

The catergories are Business and Residential.

Nomination forms must be submitted by February 1. The Kodiak Beautification Award Committee will meet in February to select the awardees. Awards will be presented in March during a Borough Assembly meeting.
